/about

Actually my name is Dimitri. But everybody calls me Dima, and I adopted this name for my painting signature. I am a professional artist from Toronto, Canada. I hold Master's Degree in Fine Arts after graduating  Moscow University of Applied Art and Design (former Stroganoff) in 1982.

I can say that art is my everything, I work literally 24/7 constantly changing, improving and finding new ways. My painting style adopted everything I like in different styles and movements through the art history. You can see elements of impressionism, realism or abstract mixed all together in my works. I like to work with brush, using the palette knife pretty rare. I like vibrant bright colours, red especially. I paint my colours with great care arranging them by size, shape, interaction, so everything is balanced and gives the right impression and mood.

I paint all subjects. Anything - Portraits, Figures, Still life, Landscapes... If something has caught my eye and I liked it - I paint it. And I take commissions too. So if you have some ideas, please do not hesitate to contact me, we will work it out.

I was asked once - how many paintings have I done through my life? That's an interesting question. Thousand? May be... May be more. I never count them. Where are they? At private and corporate collections in USA, Canada, Israel, Netherlands,
and Russia. Mostly sold and some given away as a gift or donation. And of course a lot of them are still in my art studio. I just continue to work. It is never ending process.
